So after five days of downloading and installing...
...WoW brought it to my attention that I have a trojan on my laptop, and refuses to let me play until I remove it.
I've been accumulating various anti-malware products and running them, but so far no luck in getting it permanently removed.
This laptop is primarily for portable word processing, and rarely even makes it online, so having a trojan on it is not a big deal. I'll be taking all sorts of precautions in order to not have my main computer infected in such a manner.
With luck, AntiVir (currently scanning) will detect and delete it for good, and I might even see all of you on in a few hours. If not... well.

Well, that's annoying. And I didn't know the *WoW installer* had such antitrojan capabilities. Seriously. I don't suppose it gave any other specific information? And have a firewall up... Eh, beyond that, I don't know. Hopefully your scanners will find it and smite it fine.

It gave me the name of the Trojan, but I couldn't find it by myself.
AntiVir ended up finding about 40 viruses and trojans on my poor laptop, most of which were multiple copies of the same two trojans.
WoW is still insisting I have a bad copy (it doesn't say "corrupted", but almost there) and won't let me play. And when I returned from an outing yesterday, I turned on my laptop to find that it wasn't acknowledging the wireless internet connection anymore.
In a few days I'm going back home (from my friend's house where I am currently) where I know I can get an internet connection, but I can't wait to go back to college where everything is on a sane system and -works-.

It's working now, yay!
RFD run with Cognite with a minimum of lag and stupid people, even more yay!
800x600 on a tiny laptop screen after being accustomed to 1200x1024 on an LCD screen... not so yay.
I'll be in and out for a few more days, then on regularly starting the 3rd.
