Greetings!
For some of us, exploration of the world(of warcraft)'s oft-hidden mysteries is its own reward. Or at least quite entertaining. There are several well-known spots around WoW that are, for the most part, inaccessible. But for the curious like me, who can simply enjoy a good romp over pretty lands, a little climbing and poking never hurt anyone...
In any case, here are areas I've been to that could also be good RP opportunities.
The Understormwind = The veterans should know this area, definitely. I think our guild hall is located here in a planar rift? Pretty funky. I only know one way in, but I know there's another, probably better way...
Shatterspear Troll Village = Also known as the dancing troll village, this area is great for just a happy dancy party; fly-by from Moonglade to Teldrassil, accessible from Winterspring. (Comment: The lore could be questionable for RP purposes, though.)
Ironforge Airport = Gnomish airplanes, massive airfield, eternal war with Frostmane trolls--quite interesting; fly-by from various angles, accessible from Loch Modan (*includes access to the tallest peak in all of Azeroth).
Wetlands Farm = fly-by from IF to (various), this is a simple Dwarven farm with your usual assortment of cows, pretty sheep, calming fields, a fishing pond... and an eternal Tunnel of Death; accessible from the IF airport.
Elwynn Waterfall = fly-by from IF to SW and probably other angles, this is a very peaceful and gorgeous area complete with tents, campfires, fishing stream, and waterfalls; accessible from Burning Steppes.
The Underkarazhan = This is quite new to me and much more tricky to access than the previous (*cough*); very, VERY creepy place, probably more ideal for a Hallow's Eve romp than typical RP event. Did I mention that it's creepy?
There are many more little spots hidden away around the Azerothian coasts of both continents that are more suited to a complete-circumference tour rather than a special trip to just one spot (as many of the spots are quite small), though some are larger than others. One of my favorite such coastal spots is, I think I remember, the very southern tip of Kalimdor. Excellent spot for storytelling, I think.
Notes:
Cloudspur would be happy to give guided tours to Eilon members (and our friends) OOCly or ICly, as she learned about these places from Mniaron. *wink*
The most important ground rule is that certain areas should NOT be farmed--the Shatterspear Trolls come to mind in that they're neutral to Alliance but can be attacked. We don't want to get into trouble for that, please. If you're the type of player who doesn't want to get into any trouble since these are supposed to be inaccessible areas, that's quite understandable too.
Several of the areas are difficult or dangerous in more than one way: accessible only through higher-level zones, possible death by falling, requires speed/sprint/mount, etc. If we do these exploration adventures, be prepared for death.
TIP: For people without slow fall, Blizz had removed the cooldown to Noggenfogger, so if you're the correct level and did those quests in Tanaris, be sure to keep a stack handy when we do the exploration events.
