Yes. In recent times it seems that at least 90% of the RP getting done is that Rey/Dae interaction that's always going on late into the night. =P
I propose another campfire or something. Gotta plan a time and make it official, instead of just suggesting it....

Well. There are several ways of going about RP in WoW, I guess. In-guild vs. public activities (e.g. tavern) vs. staged events (e.g. city raids) vs. random street RP... The other heavy RP guild I'm in has been seeing interesting times in the past couple months. It's one of the more well-known RP guilds on TB, but there's word that most members are interested in moving to another server because public RP (Alliance-side) is pretty dismal. I don't know what people are interested in in Eilon, though: Closed guild events? Street RP? Public events? It's good to gauge that first if people are serious about it. I don't mind either way in this particular case. (My contributed suggestion is a Cloudkitty RP Tour to one of the areas in the list on the other thread. We could always have a picnic or something at the Airport, for example. XD)

I had an interesting idea. Perhaps the higher level characters (40+) could run a weekly or bi-weekly escort service to cart lowbie alts around to the major Flight Paths in Azeroth. That way, we can get lowbie RP to everyone easier.

>I don't know what people are interested in in Eilon, thoughNeither do I... thus the reason for this thread.

It would be *nice* if there could be more RP during guild-group-runs, dungeon or no. <shrug> My opinion, but it might be nice. The sad thing is that most of us can't kill things and RP at the same time - both take around 75% concentration, and when you've only got 100% concentration to use, trying to do 2 activities that add up to 150% is ... not-so-good. =P
Or, in summary, "I dunno!"

For the sake of getting this discussion started up again:
There is a LOT of latent RP lying about. There are several prominent character arcs and/or interactions that would in themselves be sufficient to fuel week-long storylines. At the risk of ruining plot points, here are some really interesting things off the top of my head that are going on right now:
- The fallout from Raewyn's and Azani's past interactions, now that they're within proximity again - Konrad possibly going evil, which would also trigger Torus to - Dae recovering from being double-crossed and left for dead by the Illidari (yes, that was why she disappeared last week. Rey rescued her in the nick of time.)
More mundane, less dramatic and still very enjoyable interactions include:
- Ansa getting to know people - Furthering communications between Fie Kyrolius and Lelishain Lunarion - Mniaron running into members - Anything involving Doskious - Anything involving Malyris - Heck, most things involving Azani
And this is just with my limited knowledge, and not including Dae's or Torus's current Biggest Secrets. I'm sure all your characters are clamoring to be expressed too.
Personally I'm always willing to drop questing or whatever I'm doing to switch characters and RP, but everyone does have to put forth an effort to further it. Ninety percent of the RP getting done is Dae/Rey simply because there IS spontaneous RPing going on alongside a quest or something, which will just naturally segue into a more 'formalized' session. (Discussing the finer points of mana nommage between duels, as 'Zani put it.) Scheduled events are well and good (and more of them will happen soon) but on the whole they're just as formalized and veneered an occasion IC as OOC - we put on the character's mask for a while as they put on a polite social mask, and character development and interactions won't progress very much at all. If we had stuck around in the Moonglade ball the whole time through nothing much would have happened, but instead everyone moved away from the dancing and Dae ran into Mnia (very briefly), Rae translated/explained to Dae that Fie was looking for her cousin Lelishain, Vadaelis showed up and berated Fie for coming out there without protection (both of them, coincidentally, making the acquaintance of Del's and Yaz's blood elf boys), Lelishain narrowly missed Fie, and Rae explained a great deal of what had happened with Azani during the Smugglers storyline. That was a whole lot of satisfying RP, guys.

In response, I'd like to point out that most of the "satisfying RP" that occured in Moonglade was either (a) One person telling a story (props to Zani/Rae, good story), or (b) grounded in an activity unsupported by the game engine, that is, polite Alliance/Horde interaction no accompanied by blood or accomplished at the end of a spear, or (c) Brief.
>_> Granted that interaction spurs RP, but all of *my* toons are not well- leveled to interact well ingame with, fer example, Dae's or Rey's toons - interaction alongside something else, that is. Unless it's an instance. (See previous DoskPost.) Also, as a side note, I find that all of my alliance characters are considerably more bland as compared to my Belf. Dosk is an inventor, but takes an insane effort to *initiate* something. I can foil off of someone else's creation very well indeed, but he's a lot of work to initiate with. My other toons, and to a more limited extent, Dosk, are still focused on actual advancement, when I'm ingame. None of my characters has an agenda beyond that really, and given that I work 40 hours a week, I don't feel capable of coming up with one for all of them.
Dosk has a life's mission to deal with Kel'Thuzad and the Lich King. <waits for expansion> Mesaana feels that she owes Dosk a life-debt for rescuing her from the nether, and therefore levels with that in mind. In other arenas, she wants to bring Kael'Thas down for his attack on the Exodar that led to her near-death. <waits to level up> Valkrysi wants to hunt in the Outlands. <level> Nemene is in love with Vysarane (that's OOC knowledge). Nemene is a fairly private person. Very polite. Maybe kinda stiff. Not really gonna mention it. <is there something I can do with that other than what I'm doing?> Eramil is after wealth. Straight up. He heard through the grapevine that Enchanting was the way to go, so that's what he does. He conned Steele into "adopting" him, so now all of Steele's crew send him stuff to DE. He's sitting pretty, no impetus to change, or do much of anything yet. He'll level once he can't bump Ench any more. Leli writes letters <shrug?> there might be something there...
But I don't much like playing Leli, and I find leveling my toons more entertaining than writing up stories of their exploits (some of which they literally can't perform under the in-game engine limitations =P).
That would be my proverbial 2 cents.

Initiating street/tavern RP has always been an interesting problem (if you're into random RP) because you wouldn't just up and talk to a stranger for no good reason in real life. There are a few techniques that seem to work: (1) Introduce a problem that someone might be able to address. This can be done in emote or asking a question or whatever. Maybe even complaining. (Let's face it, random strangers seem to bond over shared whining.) (2) Advertising an expert solution or advice--this is kinda related to (1) and only works for extrovert types. (3) Carry an interesting object on your person or a pet; describing it briefly in RSP helps. This obviously relies on interested passers-by and is the most passive method, but sometimes definitely works. (4) Partners-in-public-crime. Two people argue about something, possibly asking for public opinion, others join in. All those methods are for generic micro-RP, of course. There are guilds with a strong overall goal (e.g. stopping Kael'thalas or something) and so a lot of RP there is guided by a thematic undercurrent. I'd be happy to get Mnia more involved, and likewise Cloudy. Not sure about the major storyline you guys already created, but that's fine. I'm aware of a weekly RP tavern being opened by Emerald Mosaic, so that's an option for more random mixing and opportunities. It'll be a planned event, "but not really." The Moonglade RP was fun overall. I think the problem there was simply that the majority of participants were Horde, and it became difficult to follow anything. There's nothing wrong with the planned events, otherwise, but it's not everyone's style. (Note: I had moved my primary RP toon to Moon Guard for street RP since I decided that I enjoy that more than strictly in-guild events, so if I'm not on TB, you can still poke me over IM.)
