Name: Daeliria Moonblade (formerly Daelaris Moonshield)
Class / Level: Shadowpriest, Level 70
Professions: Tailoring (Shadoweave) / Enchanting
Titles: Mas-Eilos; Lady Varielas (the story behind which might be written up at some point)
Age: Uncertain: see bio.
Sex: Female
Family: Inyon Moonshield, brother; Variele Moonshield, daughter. Both are presumed lost. She has also taken in an orphan named Ansa under her wing, who has adopted the name Daelaris Moonshield and grown to regard Daeliria like a mother. Recently she has given Reycied her hand in marriage.
Appearance:
Daeliria is relatively small, feeble-looking and thin for a Kaldorei. She wears her long dark blue hair pulled back in a ponytail, and dresses in dark, somber colors. Her eyes have turned a striking bright gold, similar to human eyes in that they have whites and pupils; two long, angry-looking scars still stripe her face. She moves quietly, with no large, unnecessary motions. A skin of shifting shadows coats her at all times, sometimes thick and dark enough to obscure her, sometimes so thin as to be nearly imperceptible.
Personality:
As a general rule she is very calm, almost formal at times, and speaks more cryptically than many would like. With increasing frequency other Eilon members may see her being more open and merry, or sometimes even mischievous.
Notable Possessions:
- A ring made of gold and sapphire, bearing the insignia of a shield with an upturned crescent moon on its face. This is her signet ring, which she wears on the little finger of her left hand.
- A silver flame-shaped pendant encrusted with golden gems, gifted to her by Reycied Moonblade. It acts as a powerful reminder of the Light when she falls into deep darkness.
- A man's golden ring, also given to her by Reycied, which once served as his father's wedding ring. She wears it constantly on the ring finger of her left hand.
- The staff Redemption, which she carries reverently but does not use for battle.
Biography: Note that some of these dates cannot be pinned down to more than vague timespans, due to many factors. Also, tl;dr!
Born to and named Deliria by Kastorian and Aneshina Moonshield in exile with the (first) Tribe Varielas, some time after Malfurion's pact with Ysera. Captured with her brother Inyon a few dozen years to a century afterwards, by the satyrs of Desolace, and infused with and warped by dark powers. Eventually she became host to a minor demon named Adailaras, who may have subjugated or destroyed many of her captors.
Shortly after the battle of Hyjal, the contingent of Kaldorei who were to found Feathermoon Stronghold came across and rescued Deliria (and possibly Inyon - though Daeliria remembers him also being taken under the care of one of the sections, there is no record of his arrival anywhere). She was sent to the Temple in Darnassus immediately, and to preserve the teetering balance in her mind, the demon and the shadow that nourished it were not destroyed but bound down, and the newly-named Daelaris was instructed in the ways of the dark side of Elune.
It was the Temple's hope that the bindings and steady runoff of power would keep Adailaras quiescent indefinitely. Instead the young, confused girl found herself increasingly guided by and reliant on the whispered advice of the demon, and as she grew in power, so did she willingly relinquish her self-control, until at the pinnacle of her might, Adailaras assumed full control over her mind again.
During this time Daelaris had romantic liaisons with a Kaldorei man named Aniras, to whom she bore a daughter, Variele; and long after Aniras went missing, a human warrior named Lusera Brahms. It is interesting to note that though only five years at most could have passed between the first freeing of her mind and the time when her memories of this time period ended, Dae's recollections of Variele are of a nearly-full-grown warrior. It is uncertain if this represents a major flaw in Dae's memories or if the same shadow powers that accelerated Daelaris's mental and physical growth were also passed on to her daughter.
Everything above is sourced only from Daeliria's memories: though there are strange echoes and coincidences in her story that coincide with others (such as those of Doskious Steele and Azani Stormwolf) many pieces of hard factual evidence that should exist simply do not. (( This is to explain a rebuild of the same character concept as a new character on a new server. ))
What can be documented is the appearance of a woman dressed in once-fine clothing that was now worn to rags, wandering blind and half-delirious in the wastes of Desolace. She was quickly rescued and sent to the Temple in Darnassus to recover. Severely disoriented when she awoke, she asked for many of her loved ones, all of whom did not seem to exist. The story of her past that she related - and her account of a vision of "Mother Elune" a short time before, who removed her demon, in the process breaking her power back down to acolyte level - was treated skeptically at best, but the woman's smoking scars (made by Adailaras trying to claw her way back in) and her strong natural affinity for dark powers were not to be argued with. She took the name Daeliria, and the duties of a novice priestess, and worked her way back to adeptness with astonishing speed. A chance encounter with a young and idealistic druid named Mniaron inspired her to gather a number of those seeking atonement or a new life around herself and to name this fledgling group the Children of Redemption.
Recently, advised by the Temple, she went into a months-long convalescence and finally regained some of her sight. It was during these months that she met and became a mentor to Ansa, but despite all her motherly instincts for the girl, the Outland called to her and when she was well enough to travel again she set off without bothering to find more powerful equipment than the simple clothes on her back. Since then she has reconvened the Eilon and attained the height of her control of shadow, as well as delving more deeply into the healing arts. However, this mastery has not come without a price...
